information in Ahovalam
Ahovalam is located halfway between Madras and Hyderabad. It is not an easy place to get to, as it is totally in the middle of nowhere. The closest big city is Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh. To get to Ahovalam you usually first have to go to Allagudda. There is a small road that goes northeast from there to Ahovalam (40 km).
Rail
There is a station at Nandyal, about 6 hours south of Hyderabad. From there you can get a bus to Allagudda and from there another bus to Ahovalam (1 hr).
You can also go to the railway station at Cuddapah, which is an important stop on the Madras-Bombay route. From there you get a bus to Allagudda about 60 km north and then get another bus to Ahovalam.
There is also a railway station at Dhone. From there you take a bus to Ahovalam via the towns of Banganapalli and Koilkuntla.
Bus
To get a bus to Ahovalam, generally you have to first get a bus to Allagudda, which is on the main road halfway between Hyderabad and Madras (Tirupati). From Allagudda to Ahovalam takes about an hour.
To get to Ahovalam from Srisailam takes about 10 hours and you need to change buses three times. There is one direct bus to Ahovalam that leaves in the afternoon from Srisailam. There is a fast luxury bus from Tirupati to Allagudda. You can also get a bus from Kurnool to Allagudda. To get to Hampi from here you have to take three or four buses and the trip takes about 12 hours. There is a direct bus to Tirupati (7 hr) and Madras (11 hr) that departs from Lower Ahovalam.
