Train
Vellore has two metre-gauge train stations. Trains go to Tirupati and Tiruvannamalai from here. The broad-gauge railway station is at Katpadi (2 km from Vellore), on the Madras-Bangalore line. A bus from Vellore to Katpadi takes 20 minutes. It takes four hours to get to Bangalore from here and two hours to get to Madras.


Bus
Thiruvalluvar Transport Corporation buses that go to Tiruchirappalli, Madurai, and Tiruvannamalai that begin in Vellore and can be booked in advance. There are also buses to Bangalore (3 hr), Tirupati, Thanjavur, and Madras. PATC has buses to Madras (3 hr), Bangalore, and Kanchipuram. The bus station here is not user friendly.
