Spicy Shakarkandi (Sweet Potato)
Serves 3-4
3 medium shakarkandi (sweet potatoes) - boiled, peeled and cut into small pieces (1½ cups chopped)
2 tbsp oil or ghee
½ tsp. jeera
5 green chillies - deseeded and chopped
½ tsp. salt, ½ tsp. pepper, ½ tsp. sugar (optional)
Juice of ½ lemon
some coriander leaves (optional)

1. Heat oil or ghee. Add jeera.
2. When jeera turns golden, add green chillies. Fry for 1-2 minutes.
3. Add sweet potato, salt and pepper. Fry for 1-2 minutes.
4. Add lemon juice. Mix well. Add sugar if you like
5. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.

Chatpate Chharre Aloo
Serves 2-3
150 gms baby potatoes
3-4 tbsp oil or ghee
5-6 green chillies - slit lengthways
½ tsp. salt
juice of ½ lemon

1. Wash potatoes well (can peel if desired). Prick well with a fork. Cut each potato into 2 pieces.
2. Soak potatoes for 1½ -2 hours in 1cup water to which 1 tsp. salt is added.
3. Heat oil. Add drained potatoes. Fry till cooked. Drain out extra oil/ghee.
4. Add salt, green chillies and lemon juice. Mix well & serve hot.
