Ravana Threatened Sita

The bright light of the moon enabled Hanuman to see Sita more closely. She was thin and pale. Her face was bathed in tears. Ugliest of she demons were guarding Sita. They were swine-faced, tiger-faced, buffalo-faced and goat-faced. They were holding spears and other weapons in their hands to frighten Sita into Submission. Hanuman sat on the tree hidden in leaves.

It was still dark. The day had not yet dawned. Ravana was aroused from his slumber by the chanting of the Vedic Verses by his court bards. As soon as he awoke, Ravana clad in spotless white clothes started towards Ashoka garden to see Sita. He was surrounded by so many beautiful maidens. Ravana approached Sita to seek her love. He said, "O beautiful one! I beg your love. Accept me to enjoy all the pleasure of the world. I will make you my sovereign consort. All my queens and women in my palace shall be ruled by you. Have pity on me. Be my wife. Only say 'yes'," Having plucked a blade of grass Sita spoke, "Deceitful Ravana, all your power and pelf are like this blade of grass to me. I think you to be a man of straw and a cowardly thief. Death stares you in the face. If you with to live, seek forgiveness and safety at the feet of Lord Rama."

Ravana returned crestfallen.
