Against Sorcerers

God Agni, the demon-slayer, remover of misery, ever victorious, hath come hither unto us, having burnt away the deceivers, sorcerers and double-tongued kimidins.

May the sorcerers eat up her own son, sister and daughter. May the horried-haired sorcerers mutually destroy one another. May these hags be shattered asunder!

An Amulet for Success

With an over-rolling amulet, wherewith Indra increased, with this, O Brahmanaspati, let us increase in royalty.

Subduing our rivals, subduing all niggards, trample thou upon him who fights and abuses us.

Soma and Savitar have made thee increase, and thou hast increased all existence, so that thou mayest be lord of all.

You Sun hath gone up, and this spell of mine that I may be slayer of foes, without any rivals, rival-slayer.

Slayer of rivals, the bull conquering royalty, with royal sway, may I rule over these heroes and the folk.

For Protection of Gods

O all ye Gods, ye Vasus, guard this man, likewise ye Adityas watch ye over him, let none, whether on related or not, nor any deadly weapon reach him.

O all ye Gods, who so of ye art fathers and sons, listen this my prayer; to ye I commit this man. Happy unto ripe age shall ye carry him!

To the Guardians of Quarters

O ye Gods, guardians of the four quarters, do ye liberate us from all fetters, of perdition and distress.

Unmaimed I offer sacrifice to thee and make oblation with ghee. May he, the guardian of all directions and hopes, the effulgent, grant us here the best riches.

Blessings be to our mother and father; joy be to our cattle, to beasts and to men! May all well-being and beneficence be ours! Long may we see the Sun.

Cosmogonic

Know ye folk, a great mystery, about to be made known, that which is not found either on earth or in heaven, whereby the plants breathe.

In the atmosphere is their stay, like a station for the wearied the place of support. This the wise know, or perhaps they know not?

What is trembling firmaments and the earth together fashioned, is now in perpetual motion, like the streams of the mighty ocean.

The one Earth has encompassed all; this rests upon the other. Both the Heaven and Earth, the all-possessing I have paid my homage.

To Waters

May these gleaming Waters, all-purifying, who assumed Agni as their embryo, be blessing and pleasant for us!

Amidst whom the King Varuna goes, watching over the truth and falsehood of men, who is of gleaming colours, be blessing and joy for us!

O Waters, behold us with propitious eye, bathe my skin with propitious body, they that are ghee dripping, clean and purifying, let these Waters be blessing and joy for us!
