Sing together the praise of the Hero, much invoked, to please him, a mighty Bull, when Soma juices flow. He, the all pervading God, Indra, withholds not his bounteous gifts of riches in cows, when he hath listened to our songs. May he with his strength unclose for us the stall of kine, wherever it be to which we may go, led by Indra, the Demon-slayer. O Lord of opulent wealth, these songs of laud have been sung aloud to thee, like milch-kine who low for their calves! It is hard to obtain thy love. You art a Bull to them who crave for cattle and kine. Be to them a Bull who crave for cattle. Enjoy thyself with the juice shed for your pleasure. Cast not away thy eulogiser to reproach. O God, lover of songs, these our hymns reach thee, sung with draughts we pour as milch-kine speed to their calves.

We, thy worshippers and bards call on thee for strength to win us wealth. The valiant horsemen fighting in the battle call on thee for help, O Indra, when besieged by foemen. O wonderous God, thunder-armed, praised as mighty, adorable, shower on us wealth in kine and car-horses, the hero’s strength. We call upon him who ever active strikes the enemy dead. Thou Lord of the heroes, most mighty, aid us to prosper with thy thousand powers.

O Indra, whatever physical and spiritual strength there is in men and whatever glory there exists there exists in the five Peoples, grant us all these and all manly powers. O God, whatever manly strength in Triski lay and in Puru-folk, grant us that in full that in the struggle we may defeat our enemy. O Indra, grant me and these devotees of thine, for their weal, the lustrous refuge that wards off triple afflictions and keep thy shafts far away from us.

Indra, the rescuer, God the saviour, almighty, whom we ever gladly adore, powerful lord, invoked by all people, may he, the bounteous, grant us his favours. May he, the God Indra, as Lord of riches and our sure protector grant his succour. Baffle thou O God, our enemies to give us rest and security. Let us have heroic strength and manly vigour. May we be ever in his benign grace, may we enjoy his favour. May Indra, our guardian sweep away from us, even from afar, the foemen, our songs, prayers and verses reach thee Indra, as the streams rush down a slope. O thou thunder armed, kine, libations, water and Soma juice, all are thine like a vast bounty.

Hymn Agni with each song in every sacrifice to acquire strength. Come, let us laud him, the wise and immortal God, even as a well-loved friend. Agni, the Son of Strength is our gracious Lord. Let us laud him who bears our oblations to Gods. Let him be our aids and strength, yea, verily a saviour of our beings. O Agni, the resplendent God, most youthful, all purifier, with thy pure brilliancy, kindled by the Seer’s hand, shine one us with thy glorious beams, O Agni, one of the eight Vasus, grant us your protection along with riches. O wonderous One, thou art the lord of earthy wealth, give rest and safety for our progeny. Proper our sons and grandsons with thy protecting powers, never negligent but ever inviolate. Keep far from us, O God, all divine anger and wickedness of godless men! O friends, bring her here with songs who liberally pours forth her milk, unbound her who never turns away.

I call upon both Indra and Agni, whose deed in the form of creation of this universe has been renowned from the ancient times. Indra and Agni harm us not! We praise the twain, Indra and Agni, the destroyers of the terrible foe. May they be auspicious to one like me. May they both drive away all our enemies. May they slay our foemen, smite the enemy, the guardians of noble men, O Indra, O Agni, these our songs of praise have been sung for you, who bestow blessings. Come Indra, Come Agni, with those teams invoked by many, O heroes, for your admirers and enjoy the juice. Ye heroes, Indra and Agni, come to drink of Soma juice, we have poured the libation. O worshippers, glorify that Agni who encompasses all enjoyable things and makes everything without sin with his radiance. He who gains Indra’s grace through enkindled fire in the sacrifice, finds a smooth passage across the floods to glorious riches. Give us ye twain, swift steeds to bring the Gods here and pour on us abundant food and wealth. O Indra, O Agni, ye twain I invoke to gain strength. Ye are giver of food and wealth. I call upon you both to gladden you with wealth in kine and steeds, we call you both, the Gods, as Friends for friendship, giving bliss.
