O Sun, today arising blameless, thou hast spoken the truth to Varuna and Mitra. May the boundless Aditi, Aryaman and all the Gods, love us white us sing these songs of praise. O Mitra and Varuna, he is the Sun, the all-seeing, who ascends over earth and heaven in the pervading wide and guards all things that moves not, for the seer goodness and crookedness in mortals. Seven shining gold-hued horses has he yoked and they bear him dropping nourishment. He surveys the worlds of Varuna and Mitra like a herdsman who watches over his herds. Your steeds rich in sweetness have risen high, the Sun has ascended to the ocean of pure light and for him the Adityas make pathways ready, even Aryaman, Mitra and Varuna in harmony do so. These Gods, Aryaman, Varuna and Mitra discern falsehood in us and chastise. These mighty sons of Aditi grow in the house of Law eternal. These lords of love, purity and wisdom who none can repress, give discerning knowledge to him who has none. They impart to him right vision and lead him along the smooth paths beyond grief and evil.

They are ever watchful with eyes that close not in slumber and lead the ignorant. They carry him in his forward march across the fathomless pit in the river to safety on the other side. The boundless Mother Aditi and Varuna and Mitra, like guardians give peace, protection and happiness to their devotees engaged in sacrifice, in them let us seek all our creation and lineal succession, let us do no violence to or anger these Gods, O ye bold ones! He whom Varuna upholds, removes away from his altar the stains, Aryaman, save us from all who would hurt us, O givers of plentitude. A shining power and a realm of illumination signify their coming together. By their wonderous power they hold dominion. O Gods, we tremble with fear of you, have mercy on us, sit us at ease by your greatness. He who wins favour through his prayer and worship that he may acquire felicity, strength and riches, has his home filled with comforts. For you, O Varuna, O Mitra, this priestly task has been performed in our sacrifices. Lead us safely through all the perils. Keep us safe, evermore, with your blessings.

The Sun, beneficent to mankind, whose gaze rests on all, auspicious God, is coming here. The God, the eye of Varuna and Mitra, has rolled up darkness like a scroll of leather. The Sun, the inspirer of men, unfurling his mighty shimmering banner, is advancing. Now he will roll his chariot wheel again, which harnessed to the shaft, the steeds pull. Emerging radiant from the bosom of the Mornings, he, in whom the singers take delight, ascends. This Sun-god, I hail as my chief joy, who never breaks the harmony of universal laws. This shining jewel of the heavens, far-seeing is rising. Far is his goal, he hastens on resplendent. The people inspired by him, speed about their assigned work and perform their duties. He follows the pathways, prepared by the Gods, like and eagle in his unswerving flight. O Mitra, O Varuna, we long to serve you with worship and oblations, the Sun has already risen. Now Varuna, Mitra and Aryaman, grant us release and room enough for us and for our children. May we find fair pathways, good to travel. Preserve us evermore, O Gods with blessing.
