When the Sun has risen today, may Mitra, Aryaman, Bhaga and Savitar, the Gods free from sin, bestow happiness on us. May they the sinless protect well our homes and carry us safely over all the distress! These great Kings and boundless Aditi are verily the sovereigns of vast domains, and their laws are inviolate. Early at sunrise I hymn to Mitra, Varuna and Aryaman, the foe-slayers. May this hymn of praise bring wealth in gold and non-violent strength. May the Sages obtain sacrifice! May we be thine O Mitra, and thine Varuna with our princes. May supreme joy and fine food be ours!

So, when the Sun rises, we invoke you with hymns now, O ye charioteers of law, Varuna, Mitra and Aryaman! Adhering to law, born in law, the strength of law, fierce, hater of the false, in their guardianship which provides the best security may we mortals and our friends dwell. May we see the rising for a hundred autumns that Eye of light, ordained by the Gods, yea, may we live for a hundred autumns! O Varuna, O Mitra, come here to Soma draught, the infallible Gods in wisdom. Come here as ordained by the laws of Heaven, free from guile, Varuna and Mitra, come close, ye Gods and drink the Soma draught. Come ye heroes, come Mitra and Varuna, accept our oblations, drink the juice, the strengtheners of the law!

From her birthplace in heavens, the Dawn hath flushed revealing herself as ordained by the Law. She hath swept away friends and scronful gloom. She lights up the pathways most auspicious, most noble! Arouse us today to success and lofty fortune, to loftier felicity, promote us, O Dawn! Grant us riches of every kind, O Goddess far famed among mortal men, friend of mankind! Behold, the Morning’s splendours approach us, everlasting, bright with varied colours. Filling the region of mid-air, they ascend high, producing the holy rites and worship. The Daughter of Heaven, the world’s regal queen, yoking her car goes far away and swiftly. She visits the lands where dwells the five tribes, surveying the deeds of the mortal men.

Rich in wealth beyond telling, the consort of the Sun, rules over all riches. She steels our youthfulness, the sages praise her, and the priests chant the lauds of the effulgent Dawn! She approaches her steeds of varied hues, the red steeds of varied hues, the red steeds draw the resplendent Morning. On her fair car the beautiful Goddess comes, bringing treasures for her faithful servant. True with the true, mighty with the might, divine with the divine, holy with the holy, she has broken down all the barriers to release the rays of the Sun, and they greet her with shouts of joy! O Dawn, now give us riches in kine, horses and heroes full of manyfold joys. Protect our sacred grass from trampling feet. Preserve us, ye Gods, evermore with blessings!
