Shloka 1
idam jnananam upasritya mama sadharmyam agatah sarge'pi no'pajayante pralaye na vyathani ca
Those who have taken refuge in this knowledge attain unity with Me, and are neither born at the time of creation nor afflicted at the time of dissolution.
Shloka 2
mama yonir mahad brahma tasmin garbham dadhamy aham sambhavah sarva bhutanam tato bhavati bharata
O Arjuna, My Prakrti (or the material nature) is the womb wherein I place the seed (of spirit of Purusa) from which all beings are born.
Prakrti is called here as Mahat-Brahma. Prakrti creates when the seed of Purusa is sown in it for germination.
Shloka 3
sarva yonisu kaunteya murtayah sambhavanti yah tasam brahma mahad yonir aham bijapradah pita
Whatever forms are produced in all different wombs, o Arjuna, the great Prakrti is their (body giving) mother, and I am the (seed or life giving) father.
Jesus said that Father is in the heaven, in our opinion, Krsna is that Father as declared by the Lord Krsna Himself in this verse.
Shloka 4
sattvam rajas tama iti gunah prakrti sambhavah nibadhnanti mahabaho dehe dehinam avyayam
Sattva or goodness, Rajas or activity, and Tamas or inertia -- these three Gunas (or states) of mind (or Prakrti) bind the eternal embodied one (or Jivatma) to the body, O Arjuna.
Shloka 5
tatra sattvam nirmalavat praksakam anamayam sukha sangena badhnati jnana sangena ca'nagha
Of these, Sattva, being pure, is illuminating of good. It fetters Jivatma by attachment to happiness and knowledge, O Arjuna
Shloka 6
rajo ragatmakam viddhi tranasanga samudbhavam tan nibadhnati kaunteya karma sngena dehinam
O Arjuna, know that Rajas or passion is characterized by intense (selfish) craving, and is the source of desire and attachment. It hinds the Jiva by attachment to (the fruits of) work.
Shloka 7
tamas tv ajnanajam viddhi mohanam sarvadehinam pramadalasya nidrabhis tan nibadhnati bharata
Know, O Arjuna, that Tamas or ignornce -- the deluder of Jiva -- is born of inertia. It binds by negligence, laziness, and (excessive) sleep.
