All of Mathura is holy with the mark of Vishnu’s footsteps. (Krishna spent many years in Mathura). Vishnu’s touch is everywhere in Mathura. Garuda once went to visit Mathura and found that all its inhabitants looked like Vishnu to him. He prayed for Vishnu to manifest himself and end his delusions. Vishnu appeared and told Garuda that all inhabitants of Mathura were his mirror-images.
The Varaha Purana has several other anecdotes and stories about the importance of Mathura. The point of all these stories is to illustrate that there is no tirtha that is superior to Mathura.
The boar next told the earth about initiation ceremonies and various mantras. There is nothing particularly interesting about these sections and we will skip them.
