She saw there numberless suns and moons, Shivas and four-faced Brahmas, many a mountain and river, ocean, land and wood, as well as time, destiny, the modes of Prakriti (Sattva, Rajas and Tamas), knowledge and nature, and many more things of which she had never heard before.


She further saw Maya, who is powerful in every respect, stricken with terror and standing with folded hands. The mother also saw the embodied soul, who is made to dance by Maya, and even the faith that sets it free.


The mother experienced a thrill of awe and stood speechless. She closed her eyes and bowed her head before the Lord’s feet. Seeing the mother struck with wonder, the slayer of Khara once again became a child.


She was unable to sing his praises and trembled at the thought that she had looked upon the father of the world as her own son. Hari comforted his mother in many ways and said, “Listen, mother! Nowhere reveal what you have seen!”


With folded hands Kausalya prayed again and again, “Never again, my Lord, may your Maya cast her spell on me !”


Hari played many kinds of childish games to the great delight of his servants. After some time all the four brothers grew up, gladdening the inmates of the house.


Then the guru came and performed the ceremony of tonsure, and again the Braghmans received handsome presents. All the four noble princes ran about, diverting themselves in all sorts of charming ways.
