How beautiful were the bow and arrows in their hands! So exceedingly lovely were they that all creation was ravished at the sight, and through whichever street the brothers passed in pursuit of their sport, all the men and women there stood motionless, thoroughly enraptured.

The people of Ayodhya, men and women, old and young, held the gracious Rama dearer than their own lives.

Calling his brothers and playmates, Rama would take them with him and go out every day to hunt in the woods. He would deliberately kill only holy breasts and bring them and show his daily prey to the king.

The beasts that were slain by Rama’s shaft went straight to heaven after death. He would take his meals with his younger brothers and companions and carried out his parents’ bidding.

The all-gracious Lord Rama would always contrive means to delight the people of the city. He would listen attentively to the recital of the Vedas and Puranas and would himself expound the truths contained in them to his brothers.

The lord of Raghus would get up early in the morning, and after bowing his head to his parents and preceptor, and taking their permission, would busy himself with the affairs of the city. The king was glad at heart to see his way of life.

The Lord, who is all-pervading, indivisible, desireless, unbegotten, impersonal and without name or form, performed wondrous acts of various kings for the sake of his votaries.
