All kinds of blessed and auspicious omens and those conducive to desired results occurred all at once, as if to prove their truth.

Auspicious omens easily occur to him who has God with attributes as his own son! Where the bridegroom was no other than Rama and the bride Sita herself, and pure-souled Dasharath and Janaka were the parents.

-hearing of such a marriage all the good omens danced for joy and cried, ‘Now at last the Creator has justified us.’ In this way the procession set forth amid the neighing of horses, the trumpeting of elephants and the beating of kettledrums.

Learning that the Banner of the Solar race, king Dasharath, was already on the way, Janaka had the rivers bridged, and got beautiful rest-houses built at every stage, which vied in magnificence with the mansions of heaven (Amaravati).

- and in which the members of the bridegroom’s party were supplied with excellent food, couches and raiment, each according to his own taste. Finding ever new pleasures agreeable to themselves, all the members of the bridegroom’s party forgot their own homes.

When it was learnt that the procession of the bridegroom’s party was approaching and the tempestuous clash of the kettledrums was heard, an escort advanced to welcome it with elephants, chariots, footmen and horses all duly equipped.
