When Sita knew that the bridegroom’s party had reached the city, she manifested her glory to a slight extent, and recollecting all the Siddhis in her heart, she summoned them and sent them to arrange for Dasharath’s reception. (The Siddhis are the eight wonder-working spirits here personified as subservient to Sita.)

Obedient to Sita’s command, all the spirits repaired to the guest-chamber, taking with them every kind of riches and comforts and celestial enjoyments and luxuries.

Each wedding guest found in his own apartment all the enjoyments of heaven ready at hand in every way. No one, however, had an inkling of the mysterious power behind this untold splendour; (for which) everyone sang Janaka’s praises. Each wedding guest found in his own apartment all the enjoyments of heaven ready at hand in every way. No one, however, had an inkling of the mysterious power behind this untold splendour; (for which) everyone sang Janaka’s praises.

Rama alone knew it for Sita’s influence and rejoiced at this recognition of her love. When the two brothers heard of their father’s arrival, they could not contain themselves for joy,-

-but were too modest to speak to their guru, though their heart longed to see their father. Vishvamitra felt much gratified at heart to mark their great humility.

In his joy he clasped the two brothers to his heart with a thrill running through his limbs and eyes bedewed with tears. They proceeded to Dasharath’s guest-chamber, like a pool that seeks to visit a thirsty soul.v

The king prostrated himself before the sage and repeatedly sprinkled the dust of his feet on his head. Vishvamitra clasped the king to his bosom and blessed him and inquired after his welfare.
