Those who are delirious or mad, those who are devil-possessed and those who are drunken do not talk sense. None should give ear to the ravings of those who have drunk deep of the wine of delusion.

Being thus assured in your heart, discard all doubt and adore Rama’s feet. Listen, O daughter of the Mountain King, to my words, which are like the sun’s rays to dispel the darkness of error.

There is no difference between the qualified Divinity and the unqualified Brahma, so say the sages, wise men, the Vedas and the Puranas. That which is attributeless and formless, invisible and unborn, becomes qualified out of love for the faithful.

How does the impersonal become qualified (or the personal)? In the same way as water is not different from snow and ice. How can he be subject to delusion whose very name is like the sun to disperse the darkness of error?

In Rama, who is the sun, Truth, consciousness and Bliss combined, the night of delusion can have no part whatever. He is the Blessed Lord, whose very being is Light, and in him there can be no dawn of wisdom.

Joy and sorrow, knowledge and ignorance, egoism and pride – these are characteristics of a jiva (finite being); but Rama, as all the world knows, is the all-pervading Brahma, supreme bliss personified, the highest Lord and the most ancient Being.

He who is universally known as the Spirit, the fount of all light, manifest in all forms and is the Lord of life as well as of matter (i.e., of the whole sum of things), that jewel of Raghu’s race is my Master.’ So saying, Shiva bowed his head.
