Mother, by my grace your uncommon wisdom shall never fall.” Worshipping his feet, Manu said again, “Lord, I have one more request to make.

Let me love your feet as a father loves his son, however foolish anyone may call me. Just as a serpent cannot live without his jewel and a fish without water, so is my life dependent upon you!”

Begging this boon, the king remained clasping the Lord’s feet till the All-merciful said, “So be it: now obey my command, go and dwell in the capital of Indra (the king of heaven).

There, my friend, enjoy yourself freely, and when some time has passed, you will be born as the king of Ayodhya, and then I shall be your son.

Voluntarily assuming human guise, I will manifest myself in your home, my friend, and with all my parts incarnate will performs sportive deeds for the happiness of my votaries.

Hearing such exploits with reverence, blessed men will cross the ocean of worldly existence and will renounce self-conceit and arrogance. This Maya, my Primal Energy, who has brought the universe into being, will also become incarnate.

So shall I accomplish your desire. True is my promise, true, true!” Repeating this again and again, the gracious Lord vanished from sight.
