Having feasted on the buffaloes and drunk the wine, he roared like a crash of lightning. Heavily drunk and zealous for fray the high-mettled Kumbhakarna sallied forth from his stronghold without any troops.

When Vibhishana saw him, he came forward and falling at his feet declared his name. Kumbhakarna raised his brother and clasped him to his bosom and was delighted to learn that his brother was Raghupati’s votary.

‘Ravana struck me with his foot, dear brother,’ said Vibhishana, ‘when I gave him the most salutary and thoughtful advice. Disgusted with such treatment, I came to Raghunatha and the Lord’s heart was drawn towards me when he perceived my distress.’

‘Listen, my son,’ said Kumbhakarna; ‘Ravana’s doom is sealed; how can he listen now to any sound advice? Thrice blest are you, Vibhishana! You, my brother, have become the glory of all the demon race.

You, my brother, have brought glory to our house by your worship of Rama, that ocean of beauty and felicity!

Abandoning all guile in thought and word and deed, worship Rama the dauntless and resolute; but go now, for doomed as I am to death, brother, I can no longer distinguish between friend and foe.

On hearing the words of his brother, Vibhishana departed and came into the presence of Rama, the jewel of the three spheres, and said, ‘My lord, here comes the valiant Kumbhakarna with a body as budge as a mountain.’
