The Son of the Wind was off at once, and the Lord called on Bharadvaja. The sage paid him all reverence and, after hymning his praises, gave him his blessing.

After doing homage to Bharadvaja’s feet, with his hands folded in reverence, the Lord Rama mounted his car and travelled on again. Now, when the Nishada chief heard that the Lord had come, he cried, ‘A boat! Where’s the boat?’ and summoned his people.

In the meantime the car flew across the Ganga and in obedience to the Lord’s command landed on the river bank (adjoining Shringaverapura). Then Sita devoutly worshiped the celestial stream and threw herself at its feet.

In gladness of soul the Ganga blessed her: ‘O fair lady, may your wedded life be eternally blessed!’ At the news Guha ran in a transport of love and drew near to the Lord, full of ecstatic joy.

When he saw the Lord and Janaki, he fell flat upon the ground quite out of his senses. Perceiving his supreme devotion, Raghunatha joyfully raised him up and clasped him to his bosom.

He clasped the Nishada chief to his heart, even Lakshmi’s spouse, the abode of grace, foremost among the wise. He seated him close by his side and inquired after his well-being. Guha humbly submitted in reply: ‘Now all is well with me, for I have beheld those lotus feet which Brahma and Shankara adore. O Rama, abode of bliss, self-sufficient as you are, I do obeisance to you! O Rama, I do obeisance to you!

That Nishada, who was so utterly base-born, the Lord Rama clasped to is bosom as though he were witted Tulasidas has cast out of his mind even such a benign Lord! These holy acts of Ravana’s foe have a sanctifying effect and ever inspire devotion to Rama’s feet; they stamp out lust and other evil passions and beget true mystic wisdom; rapturously are they therefore hymned by gods, adepts and sages!
