Vilest of the vile I be, yet blessed, most blessed am I today that Rama has acknowledged me as his own faithful servant and vouchsafed to me the fellowship of a saint!

I have told you everything, my lord, according to my ability and have concealed nothing; but the acts of Raghubira are an (unfathomable) ocean; can anyone find the bottom of it?

As he pondered over Rama’s many excellent perfections, the all-wise Kakabhushundi rejoiced again and yet again. ‘He whose glory is sung by the Vedas in such negative terms as “Not this, not this,” whose might and majesty and lordship are unequalled

and whose feet are worshipped by Shiva and Brahma, even he, Raghunatha, has in his supreme tenderness of heat shown mercury to me! Nowhere have I heard of, much less seen, O king of birds, can I compare Raghunatha?

Aspirant, adepts, those already liberated, anchorites, inspired bards, scholars, seers in possession of the secrets of Karma (duty) and wandering mendicants, ascetics, valiant heroes, great penitents, wise men, religious devotees, doctors, and men who have known the subtle nature of things

none of these can find salvation unless they wait on and worship my master, Rama, before whom I bow myself again and again and yet again. The imperishable Lord I adore, by taking refuge with whom even such confirmed reprobates as myself are chastened!

May that gracious Lord, whose name is an unfailing remedy for the ills of rebirth and an alleviator of the three grievous pains, ever remain propitious both to me and to you!
