He is well-versed in moral philosophy; supremely sagacious, endowed with a thorough understanding of Vedic doctrines, an inspired bard, scholar and staunch warrior, who worships Raghubira with genuine devotion.


Blessed is the land where the Ganga flows! Blessed is the wife who is faithful to her husband! Blessed is the king who administers justice! Blessed the Brahman who swerves not from his duty!


Blessed is the wealth that is dispensed in charity! Blessed and ripe the intellect that devotes itself to works of piety! Blessed the our spent in communion with the saints! Blessed the life unceasingly devoted to the Brahmans!’


Listen, O Uma; blessed is that house, worthy of veneration throughout the world and most holy, in which is born a humble worshipper of the Lord Raghubira!


I have told you the story to the best of my ability, though at first I kept it secret. It was when I perceived your soul overflowing with love that I related the story of Raghunatha.


It should not be repeated to the crafty or the stubborn or those who refuse to listen attentively to the tale of Hari’s sportive manifestations; nor yet to the covetous, choleric or lustful, who worship not the Lord of all animate an inanimate creation.


It must never be repeated to one hostile to the Brahmans, be e a sovereign as powerful as Indra, the king of heave. They are fit for instruction in Rama’s story who dearly love the fellowship of the saints.
