Jai Maa Durga

All the Gods being dejected and disappointed gathered together and sought the refuge of Brahma the creator. They narrated their woeful tale to him. Brahma took them to Lord Shiva who in his turn took them to Lord Vishnu who resides in the milky ocean.

The Gods with folded hands bowed low and said, "O Protector and preserver of the Universe! Wicked demon Mahisha has snatched Heaven from us. He has established his supremacy over fire, water, air, moon, the sun, Yama, Neptune and Kubera, the Lord of wealth. We are knocking from post to pillar on the earth. We seek your kind refuge. Gracious Lord! Devise ways and means to kill Mahisha so that we feel safe and protected."

Having heard the woeful tale of the Gods the Trinity Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh were enraged.

Their eye-brows got curved like the bow. They were red with rage.

Their faces became red with anger. Then divine lights issued forth from their mouths.

First of all Lord Vishnu, the wielder of Sudarshana wheel, and Brahmaji emitted their fiery energies. Then divine lights came out of the mouths of Lord Shiva, Indra and all other Gods. Then all these fiery energies merged into a single massive light and energy which was as bright as the mountain of gold. All the directions became resplendent with this huge and vast dazzling light. Such a light was never seen anywhere in the world before. In a trice this mass of light and energy got transformed into a woman of great glory.

Her mouth was made from Shiva's light, hair from Dharm Raja's light, hands from Vishnu's light, bosoms from moon's light, stomach from Indra's light, legs from Brahma's light, three eyes from fire itself and all other organs and limbs were made from the different lights emitted by all other Gods.

It was the emergence of the great Durga, the Slayer of Mahisha. The Gods were delighted to see the glorious thousand-handed Durga wielding all sorts of weapons."
