Jai Maa Durga |

When stupid and wicked demon Mahisha saw Durga he muttered with arrogance, "Oh! She is a mere woman. What harm can she inflict upon me?"
But Durga challenging him said, "O wicked Mahisha, I am not an ordinary woman. I am your death. I have come to fulfil the boon which Brahma gave you. Do you remember, O rascal, that you wished to die at the hands of a woman? Now get ready to die!"
Mahisha then spied that the three worlds dazzled with her brilliant light. As she walked, the earth shuddered. The twang of her bow caused a great commotion on the earth, over the sky and in the under-world.
Out of fear Mahisha attacked Durga. The demon soldiers hurled all sorts of weapons at her. She was besieged with demons on all sides. Then Durga exhaled a great breath producing thousands of soldiers who were fighting for her!
The mighty gangs or soldiers of Durga were fighting against the demons with all sorts of weapons and missiles.
Durga parried all the weapons and missiles hurled at her by the demons in a spirit of mere play by her own weapons. Her lion moved his manes violently and pounced upon the army of Mahisha. He killed them in thousands with his sharp claws and jaws.
Then Durga showered her maces, tridents and other mighty missiles over Mahisha's army. Innumerable demons were sent to the abode of death. Many of them were beheaded with her sharp sword. Thousands were linched to death with her mighty mace. Durga's sharp shafts, trident, and other missiles caused a great havoc among the enemy forces. So many demons breathed their last on seeing the horrible face of Durga.
Durga had become the very embodiment of death. The demons were deeply depressed.
