Jai Maa Durga |

The chieftains of Shumbha felt crestfallen at what Durga told them. They reported back that the woman was very obstinate. She would marry the person who would Vanquish her in the battle.
Hearing Durga's reply Shumbha was beside himself with rage. He sent for his most powerful chieftain Dhumralochana and ordered him, "March at once with a strong army and fetch that arrogant woman to me."
Dhumralochana approached the Himalayas at the head of a huge army and pleaded to Durga, "O charming one! My master Shumbha is enamoured of you. Come along with me willingly otherwise I will drag you forcibly to my master!"
Durga pretended to be scared of him and said, "I am merely a woman! You are a great warrior! What harm can I cause you?"
When Dhumralochana once again asked Durga to marry Shumbha, she replied politely, "Then what will happen to my pledge? How shall I get a deserving match for myself without fighting?"
Hardly had Dhumralochana heard these words of Durga when he pounced upon her like a tiger. A terrible battle raged.
When Durga saw Dhumralochana charging at her with his naked sword, she with a great contempt merely uttered 'Hell with you' and at once the demon was reduced to ashes in a blazing fire!
The demon army took to heels at so sudden a cremation of their leader Dhumralochana. But Chanda and Munda stopped the demons from fleeing. They argued, "Why do you flee? She is alone and we are so many!"
The fleeing soldiers stopped. Getting back their spirits, they advanced towards Durga once again.
