The Hotar-priest, the lord of all the treasures, Agni is the foremost in sacrifice. The sacrificers who desire their offspring to continue their line are disappointed not in their desire. They all quickly obey the commands of this Agni like sons obedient to their fathers. He, possessing abundant food and wealth, unbars the same like a door, he is to be honoured and served by all.

We, the pious men, meditate upon God Agni, the omniscient who knows all our acts old or new, all divine laws which regulate the race of mortal men. Let us worship him, who is present as a germ in the waters, in the woods, the rays of the sun and moon, within all movable and immovable things, even in the mountain and mansions. The immortal God is the controller of the objects and cares for all men. Agni, lord of riches, gives wealth to him who serves him with songs. O God, protect all these many creatures on earth, thou being omniscient, knowest the origin of both the Gods amd mortal men.

We sing a hymn of praise to Agni as to Yajna we go forth. He listens to our words everywhere far and near. We chant our hymn for him, who preserves his wealth for those who give themselves up to God Agni. Let men speak of him to one another who is the dispeller of darkness, and causes victory to his devotees in every strife.

Accept thou our resounding praise, and the food delightful to the Gods, poured in thy mouth as oblations to be consumed. O Agni, the wisest and the noblest, the best mediator, may we utter to thee and acceptable and much precious prayer. Who among men is your kind? Who are you? On whom dependent? You are of all men the brother and their dear companion, a friend whom friends may supplicate. Bring to us thou Agni, Mitra and Varuna, bring the Gods to honour to thy own hearth.

What is that that may please you? What song of praise shall bring us your divide blessings? With what oblation should we attain you? Come to us Agni, and take your seat. Be our leader. May Earth and Heaven that gratify all, protect you, worship the Gods to win their favour for us. Burn all the wicked, O Agni, to protect our Yajna from violence. Bring hither with his steeds the lord of Soma, the giver of prosperity. O thou, our officiating Hotar-priest, I invoke you, come to us and be seated among the Gods. I praise you with my lips as noble controller, generator of riches, giver of progeny, O Purifier.

When at thy roar, O Indra, all objects both movable and immovable shook and even Tvashtar became agitated at thy wrath and trembled with fear, did thou, then honour thy sovereign authority and imperial sway. There is none to emulate Indra in his might. In him the Gods have treasured many boons like industry, perseverance and power, which laud his own imperial authority.

O Indra, refresh thee with the Soma juice effused for thy joy and strength. We know thee well to be the lord of ample wealth, therefore, be our protector. We approach thee for the attainment and increase of our strength. These thy subjects, keep for thee all that is worthy of ye. Thou, lord of all, knowest what are the possessions of those men who offer no gifts. Thou bring up this wealth of theirs.

O Indra, yoke tow bay steeds. O Maghavan listen to our request and do not be negligent to us. When we solicit felicity from you, make us full of joy and happiness. Quickly yoke thy bay steeds, O Indra, for us. The wise men, resplendent like the Sun, have lauded thee with their hymns, the friends have risen and gone after having enjoyed the meals. We bow before you, Indra, thou art so beautiful to look upon. So adored by us and bound with full and true bond of love, subdue our adversaries, yoke your steeds and drive thy care for gaining victory over the wicked. Now, yoke thy care, O Indra, containing all material of war, arms, weapons and other requisite things, the chariot which brings wealth and kine. O Lord of hundred powers, let thy steeds be harnessed on the right and left of your car. Therefore in the ecstasy of Soma juice, riding the chariot draw thou nigh your consort and gladden her. O lord of mighty arms, I yoke in your chariot the steeds of long and shining manes like the beams of the Sun. Now hold in your hands the reins. The Soma juices have gladdened you, thou thunderer has rejoiced with thy beloved.

Show respects to Indra, sing his glory you men. Let the juice of Soma make him glad, pay adoration to his superior strength. When you, O Indra, harness your chariot, there is no better warrior than you, none equal to you in strength, none although well-horsed has overtaken you. He is Indra indeed, who alone bestows wealth on charitably disposed men. His heroism is undisputed wealth on charitably disposed men. His heroism is undisputed, and he is lord of immense strength. When will you trample upon the godless men who have no gifts to offer, as if upon a coiled snake? When will you, verily, listen to our praise? With bones of Dadhichya for his weapon., Indra of indomitable power, has struck ninety-nine Vritras dead.
