I move with the Rudras and the Vasus, with the Adityas and with all the Gods I travel. I uphold Varuna and Mitra, Indra and Agni and the Ashvins twain. I cherish the exuberant Soma and Tvastar. I support Pushan and Bhaga. I shower wealth on him who offers oblation and pours forth the Soma juice in sacrifice. I am the sovereign Queen, the amasser of wealth, most wise, foremost of those deserving worship. The Gods have set me in many places. I enter many homes and abide there in various forms. Every human being who breathes, who sees, who hears the words uttered, attains his nourishment through me alone. They know me not, yet they abide in me. Listen ye all, who know, what I declare is the truth and worthy of attention.

I myself announce and utter the tidings that both Gods and men alike rejoice to hear. I make the man whom I love, a sage, a seer, a priest and make him grow in might. I make the bow of mighty Rudra bend, so that his dart slay the hater of the Holy word. I rouse battle among the people and I have penetrated Earth and Heaven. On the summit of the world, I bring forth the Father Heaven My home is in the Waters and in the ocean. Thence I have spread over all the world and even touch the yonder sky with my forehead. I breathe a strong breath like a wind and tempest. Within myself I hold all the world and the things that exist. I lord over the earth and the heavens, so powerful I am in strength and grandeur.

Here approaches the Night, with her twinkling eyes that Goddess has lit many a spot, embellished with all her glories. The immortal Goddess has encompassed the whole world, she has filled the valleys and covered the high peaks. She conquers darkness with her light. Approaching quietly the Goddess has once again set her sister Dawn in her seat, and now the shadows will also vanish. Let this Night be gracious to us as we repair to our homes like birds to their nests.

The villagers all have reached their homes, and all that walks and all that flies have gone to rest. Even the falcons fain for prey have gone to rest. Keep off the wolf, the wild beats, keep off the thief, O Night undulating. Let thou be easy our passage to the other side! Verily she has now come and enfolds me in her black apparel. O Dawn banish them like debts? O Daughter of Heaven, I have brought for thee, my song of praise like a rich offering. O Night, accept this laud as for a victor.
