Goddess of the forest, Goddess of the wild, slipping away from the sight, how is it that you avoid the human habitation. Are you not afraid alone? When the grasshopper replies the cicada’s shrill call, it is the Goddess of wild they welcome with their praise as with tinkling of the bells. Cows seem to graze yonder in a pasture, which looks like a dwelling place. Is that a cart with creaking wheels? Or else the Goddess of the wild passes. Hark, there is a man calling his cows, another there is felling a tree. At evening the dweller in the forest fancies he hears someone screamed. The Goddess of the woods slay never, unless one comes bent on murder. One may eat her luscious fruits and take rest, even as he will sunder a shade. O Goddess of the woods, embellished with fragrance and sweet smelling balms, thou Mother of all wild beasts, you need not toil for food, now I bow to you.

By faith is fire kindled, by Faith is oblation offered. We sing to Faith now, the height of joy. O Faith, bless him who gives, bless him who fain would give, but has not. Bless thou the liberal worshippers be accepted. Led by Vayu, Gods and men rever Faith at their sacrifice. Faith is made of the yearnings of the heart and opulence comes through it. Faith at Dawn, Faith at noon and at the sunset we invocate. O Faith grant us faith!

May the Sun in the highest sky guard us, may the Wind protect us from the airy spaces, and may Agni be our guardian in terrestrial places! May Savitar, whose flames deserve a thousand sacred offerings, be pleased with us! May he preserve us from falling lightnings. May he, the God of Light grant us light, and may the celestial Summits also give us light! May the Creator grant us sight! Grant sight to our eyes, sight to our bodies so that we may see.

May we see the world and survey the things at a single glance! Thus, O Sun, may we look on you, most beautiful to look on. May we see clearly with the eyes of men!

Oh, the Wind-chariot, its strength and glory! It goes crashing with a voice of thunder. The regions are red, so are the heavens, the earth is covered with dust, the Wind passes. The wind-hosts hurry along the path of Vayu, and follow him like dames to an assembly. Car-borne, he speeds forth attended by his hosts, the Sovereign of the World. He neither rests nor slumber even for a single day but travels on the pathways of the air.

O Almighty Agni, who gathers up all that is precious for thy devotee. Kindled on the altar of sacrifice, give us all your treasures. Come together, converse with one another in the assembly. Let you minds be of one accord. Just as Gods in ancient times sat down in perfect harmony to receive their appointed share of the sacrifice. United be your assembly, united the minds, and so be your thoughts and counsel. A common plan I propose before you, a single sacrifice I lay. One and the same be your resolve, and your minds in harmony, united be your thought that you may long together dwell in happy accord.
