Mitra, the divine friend, brings men together. He sustains both earth and heaven, ever watching the mankind with eyes never closing. To him offer an oblation rich in butter. He is foremost among the men who brings you offerings, the one who abides by thy sacred law. On him whom thou help never falls the affliction, nor is he ever conquered or slain. May we the mortals enjoying ourselves, free from maladies, with our knees bent on earth in obeisance, and following divine Friend Mitra’s statue, remain in his kind favour.

O Dawn, richly stored, endowed with wisdom, accept our songs of praise, O thou Lady of plentitude. O ancient yet ever youthful Goddess, thou movest in accordance with the Law, bearer of all the boons! Divine Dawn, shine forth thou with your rays, on the radiant car engendering pleasant sounds. My thy steeds, well guided, bring you hither, the golden-hued and powerful ones. Having arisen, thou Dawn, turn thy face on every creature, standing on high as the emblem of the Immortal. To the same one goal your proceed each day like a wheel, O newly born, turn your chariot hither like one that lets fall from her a robe, she cometh, the generous Dame, encompassing both the slayer. The boundless heaven and earth are but a handful when thou grasp them.

O Indra, thou hast established firmly the unbound vast earth in her seat. Thou hast propped the other two regions as well. Let the floods engendered by you flow freely. The demon who held the kine secretly, yielded them before thy power. You make good paths for the travellers and travel by them yourself. The loud lauds waxed you strong, Indra, thou much invoked. O hero, you destroy your enemies and fulfil the Earth and Heaven, the Pair who clasp each other in love, full of riches. Come thou near us, and bring thy care of nourishing foods. The Sun never goes against the laws created by the lord of bay steeds. When his journey is over, he lets loose his steeds, and he is Indra. All people during the course of night would gladly look on the broad, bright front of the refulgent Dawn, and acknowledge the wonderous works of Indra, when she comes in her splendours. A mighty splendour is stored on her bosom; bearing the ripe milk, the unripe cow comes. A great sweetness lies in her, created for our joy by the God Indra.

The all-seeing and omniscient Sun, the Sage, who looks upon human beings has seen the Earth and Heaven enjoying in their places ordained by the Law. They create a home as does a bird, the nest, though parted and yet together. Though parted, but partners, they stand ever alert on one firm place and being young lovers address each other. All creatures they unite Heaven and the Earth and bringing forth light to. Hail the Goddess Dawn and offer her your songs of praise. Exaltantly set in heaven, beautiful to look on, she pours forth sweetness and lavishes her splendour all around. Our hymns have awakened the Daughter of Heaven. She, the Dame generous, comes with her rich light into the two worlds. O Agni, when she approaches shining forth, thou go towards her, eager to share her treasures. The mighty Sun, firm based on the Law, the Bull speeds after the Dawns and enters the earth and heaven. Great is the wisdom, Varuna and Mitra, which in her brightness spreads splendour in every direction.

O nourishing, divine Pushan, this our newest and the best laud is sung forth to thee. Be gracious and accept this my hymn, as a bridegroom does his bride. May he who sees all beings together at a glance, may be, may Pushan be our protector. May we meditate upon the excellent glory of the divine Savitar. May he himself illumine our minds! Knowing through our minds the God Savitar we beg of him our portion of the prosperity. Urged by their impulses, the learned men, worship and laud Gods Savitar in sacred rites. The God Soma, the giver of success ascends to the heaven, to the dwellings of Gods to seat at the seat of Law. May Soma grant us and our cattle the nourishing food, to biped and to quadruped. May he, granting us long life, and removing our foe-like diseases, be established in our assembly. May Varuna and Mitra, dear to us like our own life, shower on us sweetness and fat on our pasturage.
