Train There are about seven trains daily to Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum, 8hr). There are also direct trains to Kochi/Ernakulam (2 1/2 hr, 5 daily), Bangalore, Hyderabad, Bombay, New Delhi, Madras (12 hr, 2 daily), Calcutta, Trichy, and Varanasi. The daily Madras Exp takes 11 1/2 hours of reach Madras.
Bus There are three bus stands – the KSRTC long-distance bus stand by the railway station, the North (Priya Darshin) bus stand, north of the center of town, and Sakthan Thampuram (local) bus stand, which is two km south of the center of town. KSRTC has frequent buses to major towns in Kerala. There are express buses to Thiruvananthapuram (every half hour). There are also direct buses to Madras (13 hr), Bangalore (10 hr ), Coimbatore, Madurai, and Palani.
The best way to get to and from Mysore (8 hr) is by bus. There is a morning bus that leaves from Mysore and stops at Guruvayur (7 hr). Frequent buses to Irinjalakuda depart from the Shakthan Thampuran bus stand, Pattalam Rd, 2 km from Round South.
About five buses go each hour to Guruvayur (1 hr, 29 km). This is a much better way to go than taking a train. You can get one of the regular buses to Guruvayur near the train station or ask at your hotel where to get a bus, as they depart from different places in the city.
