Vijayawada is 445 km north of Madras, 380 km north of Tirupati, and 365 km south of Visakhapatnam.
Air There are three flights a week to Madras. The Indian Airlines office is opposite the Old RTO Office, Bandar Rd. A taxi from the airport (20km).
Train Vijayawada is on the main Madras-Delhi and Madras-Calcutta lines. The Tirupati Express goes to Puri and Tirupati.
The Coromandel Express takes 21 hours to get to Calcutta via Bhubaneswar (13 hr). The Konark Express (14 hr) also goes to Bhubaneswar. The Coromandel Exp takes 7 hours to go the 432 km trip to Madras.
The Tamil Nadu Express goes to Delhi (28 hours, 1761 km). The Konark Express goes to Secunderabad (7 hr) and the East Coast Exp goes to Hyderabad (9 hr). There are direct trains to Varanasi, Bangalore, and Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum).
There are several trains a day to Visakhapatnam and Srikakulam Road.
Bus Buses are available for travel over the entire Andhra Pradesh and Madras area. The large new bus terminal is 1.5 km from the railway station. It has waiting rooms and dormitories. There are regular buses to Hyderabad (6 hr), Visakhapatnam (10 hr), and Madras (10 hr).
