There are no direct trains from Calcutta to Vishnupur. First you have to get a train to Kharagpur and from their get another train or bus to Vishnupur. This trip takes over five hours. The trains from Calcutta to Kharagpur depart from Howrah Station. You can also get a train from Howrah Station to Tarakeshwar and get a bus from there.

From the Esplanade Bus Stand on Chowringhee Rd in Calcutta (5 hr) there are three buses in the morning and another bus in evening. From Calcutta it is quicker to go bus than to go by train.

There are buses to Durgapur from Krishnanagar, and from there you can get another bus to vishnupur. You can go to Vishnupur on one of the Government of West Bengal tours. The tour lasts for three days and goes to several other places.
