Introduction of Andal Goda Devi

That night before going to bed Vishnuchitta begged pardon of the Lord for the mistake committed by his daughter in wearing the garland prepared by him for the Lord The Lord appeared in Vishnuchitta's dream that night and said, " Vishnu chitta, your daughter Gada devi is very dear to me. She is my greatest devotee. I admire her devotion towards me. Without any hesitation you may offer me the garland worn by her."

Vishnuchitta got up from sleep. He called his daughter near him. He told her, "Dear child, I am your father only for name sake I admire the Bhakthi for the Lord in you. I do not any more stand between you and the Lord. You may do as you please."

Gada devi said, "Father, I love Lord Krishna very dearly. I consider him my husband and Lord. As she said this, tears rolled down from her eyes. She immediately ran away from that place and entered the puja mandir.

Vishnuchitta could not understand as to how his daughter's desire for the Lord would he fulfilled and how she could possess Him as her husband.

This being so, Lord Ranganatha of Sri Rangapuram appeared in the dream of the Archakas of the temple. there and ordered them that Goda devi or Sri Villiputhur be brought in a palanquin before Him.

Accordingly the archakas went to 'Sri Villiputhur accompanied by Nadaswaram music, informed Vishunchitta the orders of Lord Ranganatha and requested him to send his daughter with them in the palanquin. How could Vishnuchitta disobey the command of the Lord? He sent his daughter with them blessing her. Tears of joy rolled from his eyes Goda devi was taken to Sri Rangapuram. On reaching the temple of Lord Ranganatl1a she became an Andal and merged in the Lord.

Even to day in Sri Rangapuram, Andal is being worshipped along with Sri Ranganatha daily. In every Vishnu temple idol of Gada devi is also being worshipped.
