GANESHA AND YOGA

The Siddhis should bring about self realisation by the annihilation of the ego as otherwise we have to be born again to suffer the results of our past actions. Our earthly existence is in the nature of an open air imprisonment with fretting and fuming. Our aim should be to see that we do not come back. In the story of Ramayana, we come across Ravana, the King of Lanka, having the eight siddhis. But he has not realised his self by the suppression of his ego. He went in for another man's wife and that was his disaster. We are seeing many such Ravanas going about the world even at the present time hoodwinking the world. One should be wary about accepting such men as Gurus or Preceptors.

Yoga is beyond barriers of race or religion and it can be the only unifying force to bring humanity together. But one should be careful about charlatans who make business out of it.

Yoga literature also speaks of six psychic centres which are also not properly understood. A correct understanding of these six centres is necessary to understand the science of yoga and to appreciate Ganesha's connection with it.
