Where To Stay - Dharamsalas
Punjabi Ksetra Ashram and Bharata Ashram are extremely basic and cheap. If you travel in the mountain area there are several Punjabi Ksetra Ashrams to stay at. Other dharamsalas are Vishnu Bhavan, Gujran-wale, and Arya Samaj. Paramanand Ashram has rooms with a good view of the Ganges. These ashrams are all close to Birla Ghat.
The Karnataka Dharamsala at Birla Ghat is a well-maintained clean place where you can stay for a donation. It is centrally and conveniently located by the river. Jayaram Ashram is one of the best dharamsalas in Haridwar. It has almost 500 rooms, many of which have a bathroom and are furnished.
Where To Stay - Lower
You can expect hotel prices to be higher here in May and June, which is the busy season. The budget places are mainly located near the railway station.
The Hotel Madras, which is the cheapest place, has run-down basic rooms with common bath. The Hotel Samrat is across the street and has rooms with bath. The Hotel Ashok and Hotel Panama, located on a side road close to the railway station, are both good valueswith rooms.
The Arya Niwas, near Modi Bhawan, has recommended budget rooms.
Where to Stay - Middle
UP Tourism's Rahi Motel Station Rd, next to the bus stand, has comfortable rooms in a quiet garden.
The GMVM Tourist Bungalow is peacefully situated across the river from the main part of town. It has a garden and there is good view of the river from the rooms. You can take a good peaceful walk on this side of the river.
The Hotel Kailash, on the main road near the railway station, has rooms with A/C. The Hotel Aarti, Railway Rd, is a good place with rooms and air-cooled rooms .
The Hotel Gurudev, nearby on the main road, has comfortable rooms .
Hotel Mansarover International, Upper Rd, is one of the best places in town with comfortable rooms with A/C. The Suvidha Hotel, behind Chitra Talkies Cinema in Sharwan Nath Nagar, is in a peaceful location. It is a comfortable place with clean rooms that are about the same price as the Hotel Mansarover International. It is one of the best hotels in town. It is a recommended place.
The Hotel Teerth is right on the river not far from Har-Ki-Pairi. The large Puruhit Lodge, right next to Hari-ki-Pauri Ghat, has rooms and that are not a very good value, but you are right in the middle of all the action.
The popular newish Tourist Villa, Himalaya Depot Gali, Sharwan Nath Nagar, has an assortment of budget to mid-range rooms. The rooms on the ground floor can be noisy. The Inder Kutir Guest House, Sharwan Nath Nagar, near the Ganges, is a comfortable well-managed family-run place. It is a recommended clean place with rooms.
