Accomodation in Udaipur
The Jagdish Temple area is the main tourist area of town and ia pleasant area. The hotel area by the bus station is both noisy and very polluted. The hotels in the bus station area could be used if you are just traveling through and need a quick place to sleep.
Lower - Jagdish Temple Area
Lalghat Guest House is a good place with a courtyard. Rooms, and dorm beds. There are better rooms with bath and a view of the lake. The rooftop has a great view of the lake. The Lake Ghat Guest House has rooms with common bath and with bath. There is a good view from the terrace. Among the lower priced hotels.
Next-door is the Evergreen Guest House, which has rooms with common bath with and also Bath. There is a nice terrace area. The management is friendly.
Nearby is the popular Badi Haveli, which is a nice 350-year-old place having rooms with common bath with and also bath. There is a courtyard and a good view of the lake from the roof. Next-door is the Lehar Guest House, which has simple rooms, some with a lake view. Nearby is the Anjani Hotel, which has rooms with common bath.
The Jheel Guest House, by the ghat, is in an old building with a nice atmosphere. Rooms with common bath, for a room with a view, a room with a bath.
Lower - Lake Palace Road Area
The Ranjit Niwas Hotel, Lake Palace Rd, has rooms with bath, with common bath, and for a dorm bed. It is well located and has a courtyard with a garden.
The Hotel Mahendra Prakash, Lake Palace Rd, has singles for an air-cooled double with hot water. It has a good-sized garden and a central courtyard. Right next door is the Hotel Shambhu Vilas, Lake Palace Rd, which has singles for an air-cooled double.
The Monalisa, 104 Bhatiyani Chohatta, City Palace Road, down from the Jagdish Temple, is good bargain place run by a nice family. Rooms with bath. It is a good value and is quiet.
Where To Stay Middle
The Hotel Jagat Niwas, Lal Ghat area, on the lake shore, has rooms with common bath and rooms with bath. It is a recommended place. It has a quiet courtyard and a rooftop with a good view of the lake. The Hotel Raj Palace, Bhattiyani Chotta, down the road from the Jagdish Temple, is good place with either air-cooled or A/C rooms.
The Hotel Sai Niwas, 75 Navghat, near the City Palace by the ghat, has well decorated rooms with traditional furniture. Rooms with bath and hot water. The better rooms have a lake view. It has a good atmosphere and is well managed.
The Ratan Palace Guest House, near the Sai Niwas, has clean comfortable rooms for a double. There is a lake view from the terrace. This place is a good value.
The Rang Niwas Palace Hotel, Lake Palace Rd, is good place with large rooms with common bath and with attached bath. It has A/C rooms with hot water. Formerly a small palace, this relaxing and peaceful place has a large garden and a swimming pool. This place is a good value, but is away from the lake. It has a vegetarian restaurant.
The Hotel Lake End, by Fateh Sagar, has a swimming pool with a garden by the lake. Modern rooms with A/C.
The Chandralok Hotel, 123 Saheli Marg, is a good place that has A/C rooms.
Where To Stay - West side of Lake Pichola
Located in a peaceful area next to the lake and near the Lake Pichola Hotel is the Lake Shore Hotel. It has fairly basic rooms with a beautiful view overlooking the lake. Out of the way, the peaceful Natural Hotel, near Raj Bridge, Rang Sagar, has basic, large clean rooms with common bath and with bath. It is a fairly popular place.
Where To Stay - High
The Lake Pichola Hotel, Chand Pol, on the other side of the bridge from the Jagdish Temple, is by far the best of the lower end high-range places. It is a well-manaEged place having well-maintained rooms with A/C, bath, and hot water. If you cannot get in the Lake Palace Hotel, this is a nice place to stay with rooms that overlook the ghats and the City Palace. Standard rooms, and rooms with a lakeside view. This place is an excellent value and is highly recommended.
Where To Stay - High Fateh Sagar
The four-star ITDC Laxmi Vilas Palace Hotel, between Fateh Sagar and Pichola Lake, is a luxurious place with a swimming pool and rooms for the Maharani Suite. This place was built as a royal guest house. It is best to book this place in advance, as it is often full. Next-door is the Hotel Anand Bhawan , which is a first-class place that has rooms with hot water and deluxe rooms wh a lake view. It is a very good value. The Hilltop Palace is another high-class hotel above Fateh Sagar with rooms.
Where To Stay - Luxury
The famous Lake Palace Hotel is one of the best hotels in the world. It looks exactly as you would expect a Maharaja's Palace should look. It has a central swimming pool. Rooms for the top suite. It is in high demand, so it is advisable to reserve a room in advance. It can be booked for months in advance, because it is very popular with tour groups.
