Accomodation in Ujjain
Most of the hotels are by the railway station and for the most part reasably priced. The Vikram, opposite the railway station, is the cheapest place, but you should make sure it is decently clean. The Surya Hotel next door has rooms. The Hotel Ajay is also a decent budget choice.
The Grand Hotel is over the railway bridge. It has basic rooms with bath. It is best to get a front room. It looks like it was very grand at one time, but it is totally run down now.
The Hotel Chandragupta and the Hotel Rama Krishna, across the street from the railway station, are both pretty good similar places. The Hotel Rama Krishna has rooms with bath and A/C room. It also has some very basic rooms. The Chandragupta has rooms. Both these hotels are a good value.
The Girnar Hotel, a ten minute walk from the railway station, has rooms with A/C. The Hotel Free India, next to the railway station, has good large rooms with hot water.
The Shirpra Hotel has rooms with bath and hot water and with A/C. It is one of The best places in town and is located in a quiet area. To get to this hotel from the railway station you exit at platform 7.
The Surana Palace, 23 GDC Rd, is about the same as the Shipra Hotel. It has a nice lawn and large, comfortable rooms.
