Many young foreign tourists come here, and the atmosphere is like Kathmandu. This is where Dalai Lama lives with his followers. It is located at an attitude between 1200m and 1800m, so it is a good place to come in the summer, but the winters gets very cold here. It is a nice place to take a walk around the countryside.

The town is divided into a lower part and upper part, which is called McLeod Ganj. From the lower part of town to McLeod Ganj is a 30 minute bus ride. The buses run every hour and there are also Maruti van-taxis that the make the trip. You can walk down the hill to the lower pan of town in 30 to 40 minutes.
