SURYA NAMASKARA

Salute to the Sun

ASHTANGA NAMASKARA

Position 6 Ashtanga Namaskara or 'salutation with eight limbs'

Bend the knees to the floor and then bring the chest and chain to the floor, keeping the buttocks elevated. The hands, chin, chest, knees and toes touch the floor, and the spine is arched. The breath is retained in exhalation from position 5. This is the only time that the alternate inhalation and exhalation of the breath is changed. Focus the awareness at the centre of the body or at the back muscles.
