There is not much to see in Mangalore. If you are going to one of the places in the area of Mangalore there is a good chance that you will have to stop here. Udupi is 60 km north of Mangalore. At Karkala, 53 km away, are several temples and a 13 metre high statue of Lord Bahu Bali, completed in 1432. At Moodabidri, 35 km away, there are 18 Jain temples. The oldest of them, the Chandranath Temple, has thousands of intricately carved pillars. Dharmasthala 74 north east of Mangalore, has some interesting Jain temples, including the Manjunath Temple.


Mangalore is on the coast about 990 km south of Bombay, almost due west of Bangalore.
