Air
There are Indian Airlines flights daily to Bombay and four flights a week to Bangalore and Madras. The Air Indian and Indian Airlines offices are on Hathill Rd in the Lalbagh area four km out of town. Indian Airlines also has an office in the Hotel Moti Mahal. The bus to the airport leaves for the 20 km trip from here. The few flights a day are usually overbooked.


Train
There are daily trains to Hassan, including the Mahalaxmi Express. It takes 18 hours to get to Madras on the Mangalore Mail and 17 hours to get to Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum). The twice-weekly fast passenger train to Bangalore takes 16 hours.


Bus
The bus station is three km north of the city center. The buses heading north and east are usually much quicker than the train. The buses are three different categories: red ordinary; blue - semi-deluxe; and green - super-deluxe. There are daily buses to Hospet, Mysore, Bangalore, Hassan, Madras, Goa, and Bombay.
